Privacy Policy

Scramble & Gamble ("the App") is a golf scoring app for friend groups. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We have designed the App to collect only what is necessary to make it work.

The App records scores and tracks friendly wagers between players. It never handles, processes, transmits, or holds money. Any amounts shown are a record of what players have agreed between themselves, and are settled privately outside the App.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information. Your email address and display name, collected via Firebase Authentication when you create an account or sign in. You may optionally add a profile photo and a golf handicap.
• Game data. Scores, prize amounts, bingo progress, challenge results and other gameplay data you enter. This is stored in Google Firestore and shared only with the other members of your event.
• Scorecard images. If you use the scorecard scanning feature, the photo is sent to our own server (a Google Cloud Function), which forwards it to the Anthropic Claude API for text recognition. The image is processed in transit and is not stored by us or retained by Anthropic.
• Invitee email addresses. If you invite someone to an event, the email address you enter is used to send them a single invitation.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and maintain your account
• To store and sync game data across the devices in your event
• To read scorecards you photograph
• To generate in-app AI commentary and answer rules questions
• To send event invitations you request

We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Microphone audio
• Payment card details — any purchases are handled entirely by Apple
• Device identifiers beyond what Firebase uses by default

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following services, each with its own privacy policy:

• Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage and server functions — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• Anthropic — scorecard reading, rules answers and AI commentary — anthropic.com/privacy
• SendGrid (Twilio) — delivery of invitation emails — twilio.com/legal/privacy
• Cloudflare — domain and email routing — cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
• Expo / EAS — app build and update delivery — expo.dev/privacy
• Apple — app distribution and, where applicable, purchases — apple.com/legal/privacy

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes. Game data is visible only to the members of the event it belongs to. The services listed above receive data only as needed to perform their function.

6. Data Retention

Your account and game data are retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the App. Scorecard images are not retained after they have been read.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

Access to game data is restricted by Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules to the members of each event. API credentials are held server-side and are not distributed with the App. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Your Rights

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings within the App

To exercise the first two of these, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. When you delete your account, your name is replaced with "Deleted player" in events you took part in, so that the scores and results other players already saw stay intact for them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
